Catholic Traveller helps Catholics fulfil their obligation to attend Mass whilst travelling, by making it simple to find a suitable Mass anywhere in the United Kingdom — on your route, near your destination, at a time that works for your journey.
What it does
- Find Saturday Vigil and Sunday Masses along your route or near your destination.
- See estimated travel time and detour distance for every church, so you can choose the Mass that best fits your journey.
- Practical traveller information rarely found elsewhere: parking, motorway proximity, and accessibility details.
- Confirm a Mass time after attending, helping keep the information accurate for the next traveller.
Free, and staying that way
Core Mass-finding will always be free, for everyone. Catholic Traveller is a focused traveller's companion, not a general Catholic lifestyle platform — no adverts, no social feed, no distractions. Just help getting to Mass.
Launching first across England and Wales
Version 1 covers Catholic parishes across England and Wales, with Scotland and Northern Ireland added as coverage expands. Catholic Traveller launches first as a web app you can open on any phone or laptop — nothing to install, just open it and go. An Android app on Google Play will follow shortly after, for anyone who wants a home-screen icon that behaves like a native app.
Want to help test the app before release, or help verify Mass times in your area? We'd love to hear from you: review@catholictraveller.org
Supporting the running of the app
Catholic Traveller is built and run by one parishioner, in his own time, and finding a Mass will always be free — no adverts, no subscription, and no feature ever placed behind a donation.
Running it isn't quite free, though: around £40 spent so far on the domain and Google Play registration, and roughly £16–18 a year after that for the domain. Web hosting itself is free, and the app-store side is Android-only for now — an iPhone build would add ~£80 a year in Apple developer fees and isn't planned unless there's clear demand to justify it.
Until then, the best way to support the project is by testing it, verifying Mass times in your area, or simply spreading the word: review@catholictraveller.org
